Distribution of Power is a learning and education based collective. Established in 2020 by W.H.Y. to encourage marginalised and young people to create work with experimental electronic sound using synthesisers, D.o.P. is hosted in my studio and venues and galleries in the U.K.. Synthesisers are electronic musical or visual instruments that generate audio or video signals.
Synthesisers typically create sounds or visuals by generating waveforms, through methods including subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis and frequency modulation synthesis. We aim to build a synthesiser / Electronic Instrument Library and Archive project, borrowing, storing and collecting a library of instruments which can be accessed and shared among those who have limited means to ever get their hands on these instruments. “Power Distribution” is a self-portrait still of the artist mid workshop, fed through a video synthesizer.
